Things to Do After Quarantine Restrictions are Lifted

Over year ago, the COVID pandemic resulted in shutdowns all around the world. We were quarantined in our homes doing everything from work to school to avoid being exposed to COVID. COVID also meant we did not get to do some important things that are crucial to our mental and physical health.

Now COVID restrictions are starting to loosen up, it is time to do some important things you may not have been able to do in the last year. Things you need to do after quarantine restrictions are lifted include:

  • Visit your doctor.
  • Visit your dentist.
  • Visit a loved one.
  • Spoil yourself.
  • Get some fresh air.

As we slowly progress back into the routine of normal life after the pandemic, there are things to do after quarantine restrictions are lifted that will change the quality of our lives instantly. Some of these things are crucial to your overall health and can impact your quality of life long after COVID.

Visit your doctor.

Visit your doctor

During the height of the pandemic, most doctors and clinics were only available to test and treat COVID patients. Now that restrictions are easing up, it’s the perfect time to make an appointment with your doctor to assess your overall health and wellness.

A wellness assessment will include a physical exam and routine labs such as bloodwork. During this time, you can also discuss any questions or concerns you may have directly with your doctor. In addition, if you need access to a specialist, request it from your doctor.

Seeing a doctor also includes seeing your gynecologist (GYN) to assess your feminine health. Living a year under quarantine without having direct access to your GYN can delay the ability to treat issues when they first appear. Discuss any concerns or questions you may have during that appointment. Its always better to ask the question than to wonder about the state of your health.

After visiting your doctor, you will be able to live without worry because you’ll know the state of your health after the quarantine. Continue any future visits with your doctor with the same frequency as you were prior to the pandemic. Detecting issues early can impact treatment options.

Visit your dentist.

Visit your dentist

Oral health is just as important as your physical health because your dental health can impact your overall health. Seeing a dentist can also help identify any issues with your oral health such as tooth decay, gum disease, or some other dental disease. Early detection is crucial when it comes to oral health.

Since you have not been able to visit your dentist in at least six months, your dentist will conduct a thorough exam to identify any issues and to rate your overall oral health. If your dentist identifies any trouble areas a treatment plan will be discussed with you. Finding problems early can make an early issue less costly to fix.

If you decide to visit a new dentist, make sure you contact your previous dentist to obtain a copy of your dental records and x-rays. This is important because most dental insurance will only cover x-rays within a certain period such as every two years. Having a copy of your x-rays helps your new dentist obtain more information about your oral health without the need to conduct new x-rays which could result in an additional cost for you.
